Spiked Shield is a Standard Shield in Demon's Souls and Demon's Souls Remake. Standard Shields have a good balance between defense and weight which is great for most situations in combat. Although it may not be as light as a small shield which is good for agility and parrying, standard shields work best at reducing damage and blocking.
A shield with numerous spikes on the face. Intended for attacking, the spikes can pierce the enemy.
A rare weapon that sees little use in actual combat.

Personally, I like using it as a weapon instead of a shield.
