With some light testing, this shield does NOT reduce the damage of Moonlight GS. Whether or not Moonlight buffs miracle damage and if this shield affects that I am not sure.

Correct me if I'ma wrong, but if I have Catalyst in left hand, Shield doesnt affect my spellcasting since it's swapped off? At least Magic Defence Buff icon disapears when it's on swap-hand.

Can someone please clarify the following. Does the Dark Silver Shield decrease the Magic Attack that scales with a Crescent weapon? For example, if you hold the Dark Silver Shield on the left hand and a Crescent Falchion on the right hand, does the Falchion's attack decrease?
The Shield defiantly will reduce the magic damage your character does when you are actively using it. I hit reaper for 174 with a firebolt then put on shield then I hit the reaper for only 122 with the same firebolt. (Quote from other poster below) is absolutely false.
"If by "decrease magic power" you mean your magic damage that you deal with spells/weapons is lowered than no. The shield simply buffs your magic defense while it is visible on your body (in hand or on your back). It doesn't make you deal less damage in any way"

Will this shield weaken spells like Enchant Weapon and Light Weapon? I mean, if I will cast the spell (catalyst in left) enchanting the weapon, and then take the shield (in left) while having enchanted weapon, will it weaken the spell? ("Decreases Magic damage"). I ask this because I didn't find the shield at this point yet.

this shield combines really well with the ring of magical sharpness, it will fully counteract the ring’s defense debuff and you can just put it away when you want the damage buff back

Does this shield only decrease your magical power when it is equipped in your left hand, or equipped in one of your slots? I'm assuming it only decreases power when held in hand.

Best shield in the entire series, by far. In every game after Demons Souls I tried looking for a shield as good as this one and failed. Simply perfect.
Looking for Dark Silver Shield +5 (Remake)…anyone willing to trade?
