Uchigatana is a Katana Weapon  in Demon's Souls and Demon's Souls Remake. Katanas specializes in mid-range combat, are capable of inflicting slash and thrust attacks, and can also apply the Bleed  negative status effect against hostile characters.

 

A keen, thinly bladed katana forged in a distant country. The long black blade is heavier than it looks. It has very high attack power and causes enemies to bleed, but the fragile blade is easily nicked.

  • Despite it's lower damage output compared to other katanas, it is the only one that does not damage the player.



Uchigatana Moveset

  • Its one-handed light attack is a horizontal strike, whereas its two-handed light attack is a vertical down-strike, capable of hitting crystal lizards.

      I found this after Dragon god but I highly recommend you bringing this just for dragon god to crush the columns quickly. Soul arrow, spears, and arrows take forever but the katana here took me two seconds and I didn't even put any upgrades. A unupgraded Uchigatana got through the columns quickly.

        For everyone confused by the stat requirement, remember that katana are traditionally two-handed weapons, and an uchigatana is a larger than average katana. We think of them as dex weapons but they are moderately hefty.

          Maybe the only downside of this weapon is the lack of horizontal slash able to hitbox several enemies at once, when using it as 2H. In Dark Souls 1 and 2, you have the horizontal cut after rolling.

            I'm currently playing a neckbeard weeb character anyone know what would be the better upgrade path for a weeb in training? I personally think tearing or sharp but I don't play this game much so I'm not sure which is better! Arigathanks in advance!

              Someone else mentioned it but my +10 uchi builds in the original and DS1 broke the game. This weapons unique in that it's r1 combo is impossible to escape once it's started. You'll need high stamina, very high, and +9/10 with mostly dex/end and if you're good there's no rival. Pvp or bosses(excluding a minor few) will be a breeze. Using the numbers to justify viability and not the mechanics of the movesets is a mistake especially in these earlier games where there are about half as many weapons to choose from, and maybe a fourth of them as unique.

                Which will hit harder, Sharp or Quality? Say for Sharp I have 50 DEX and for Quality I have 40/40 STR/DEX.
