Man, I was really hoping the remake changed this. Save scumming with cloud saves isn't exactly fulfilling, but it's either that or pure luck...

try to upload and restore save games from PSN cloud storage for infinite retry, like I do
you need to pay for Playstation Plus thou

Bluepoint really missed an opportunity to have these drop from the reapers...

Anyone can trade me a Pure Moonshadestone, please? I’ve killed the lizards dozen of time but they did not drop any.

Also remember that lizards respawn after you kill a boss, (so kill lizards in 4-3 before killing the boss like I described lower), and after killing the boss you supposedly can farm them again

Guys, I have found that if you have max items in the inventory, and you kill a lizard, you can send dropped loot to base (stockpile Thomas) and it doesn't count as a lizard kill, it's however limited to 2-3 times. So get your inventory full, kill lizards, send loot to base and repeat. This way you can get 2-3 times the loot from each lizard. And I got 3 pure moonshadestones just killing the lizards in 4-3.

Lizards do not respawn at Demon vanquished, but a quantity is added towards their counter of existence. Therefore, it is best to possibly ignore them until World Tendency is within relative Pure Black range to increase Item Discovery, and eventually increase Luck as well, before vanquishing Lizards until their counter of existence is exhausted, if relevant.
Detailed explanation: If World Tendency is not within relative Pure Black range, and Luck is only near base value, and if a Lizard can be ignored, do it. Vanquish that World's Demons besides its Archdemon (further strategically to preserve other progressions), then get vanquished in Body form within that World enough times, until that World's relative Black Phantom Character (also indicates relatively relevant Pure Black World Tendency range) becomes present, and then the more your Luck was increased the greater will be Item Discovery, which translates into increased Loot Quantity and elevated Loot Rarity Draw Chance and Item Drop Chance. Any Lizard within a World can drop a Pure Stone.
Once those Lizards' counter of existence (any) are depleted, you may vanquish that World's relative Black Phantom Character, stay within World (you are allowed to get vanquished, but not to get back to The Nexus) and traverse towards its Primeval Demon and vanquish it, and afterwards that World's Tendency will be within Pure White World Tendency range by getting to The Nexus. This can be relevant for other accomplishments, and beneficial for an esier adventure within that World, especially fruitful within its final area.
Depletion (relative saved status) of a Lizard's counter of existence: Lizard faded away; Lizard vanquished (also if it suffered from a fatal fall).
Quitting adventure and then Loading adventure, does not restore the previous state of a Lizard's counter of existence. However, on Sony PlayStation 3's Demon's Souls' versions, doing that is a strategy to 'grind out/deplete a Lizard's counter of existence with decreased efforts.
