Primeval Demon is a special kind of optional Boss in Demon's Souls. Unlike most Bosses, Primeval Demons have no dedicated arenas. They also pose little to no threat, being completely immobile and having a single, slow bite attack.

Primeval Demon Location

Boletarian Palace 1-3: From the archstone, climb two flights of stairs. From this landing, take the narrow stairway to your side - this should bring you behind a crossbow Guard. As you proceed, take a stairway leading down and the remainder should be obvious. (If you have not opened the gate/shortcut, you will reach this area naturally.)

  • Spawns in World Tendency: Pure Black

Stonefang Tunnel 2-1: From the archstone, go into the building where Miners are chucking rocks from above. To one side is another exit, and a crank nearby. Activate it so you can use the lift outside, then ride it to the very bottom. There will be a Primeval Demon there.

  • Spawns in World Tendency: Pure Black

Tower of Latria 3-2: From the archstone, proceed until you enter the next building, then take the stairwell up. From this first landing exit via the side, continuing along a linear path until you take a ramp downward, leading you to the cage lifts. Take one down to the swamp, mount the boardwalk via some stairs and then climb one more stairway. One side is a dead end; go the other way, and from here you will make the same turn three times, never leaving the boardwalk. Once you reach the end, a well-hidden stairway should now be in sight. Take it and find the Primeval Demon on a plateau, next to some Man Centipedes.

  • Spawns in World Tendency: Pure Black

Shrine of Storms 4-2: Proceed to the first Reaper and drop down. Facing the reaper, take the left path staircase (right in FM) and climb to the second landing. As you turn toward the next set of stairs, you should see a rather obvious Illusory Wall. Go through it and, from here, the path is completely linear. Defeat or ignore the Black Skeleton, climb the cliffside and you'll find the Primeval Demon right away.

  • Spawns in World Tendency: Pure Black

Valley of Defilement 5-2: From the third archstone, proceed through the level backwards until you leave the shack area with the Filthy Woman. You'll wind up on an island with three Giant Defiled Ones (one is a Black Phantom) and a Shaman. Do not follow the island path - instead, continue straight into the swamp where you will pass some Mosquitoes, and as you proceed you should see the Primeval Demon.

Primeval Demon Notes & Trivia

  • Each world has a Primeval Demon, which will appear in specific locations when the world reached Pure Black world tendency. Primeval Demons are for the most part harmless but if the player stands in front of the demon's mouth, it will bite.
  • Killing them will raise the respective World's Tendency by +3 and there is a high chance of dropping a Colorless Demon's Soul. In the event that the Primeval Demon does not drop a Colorless Demon's Soul when killed, should the game not "save itself", the player may try to immediately load his/her file and kill it again, repeating until one is obtained. This method is very uncertain, however, as the game chooses when to auto-save, making it "wishful thinking" at best. If a Colorless Demon's Soul doesn't drop, try the loading game method; just don't depend on it working.
  • You can only kill one primeval demon per world per playthrough. They will not respawn.

Just killed the one in Latria & it didn't drop a soul. The pain of going through that much of Latria in pure black for no reward besides tendency makes me want to _

I just thought about how these could be the first demons created by the Old One, created in it's image, as they have similar features (very wormlike, although primordial demons are much "fleshier"). The idea of them growing into more Old Ones is a scary thought.

The one in 3-2 has 85 health by my measure, not sure about all the others though (though they are assumedly the same).

Do the Primeval Demons disappear, when you had PBWT, but then killed the bosses and reached a white world tendencya again?

do they really only have 1 hp? because i just landed on the one in stonefang, caused 3 damage, and he was still alive.

              • "The game chooses when to auto-save(...)" As far as I know, the auto-save triggers are:
                1) Picking up an item. 2) Modifying loadout in the equipment menu. 3) Passing through fog. 4) Traveling by archstone. 5) Respawning. 6) Dying to another player. For emphasis, you don't auto-save wehn A.I. kills you - only when other players kill you.

Can i for example in world 2, get PBWT go kill the Primeval Demon, then go kill BP Scirvir and get a boost up close to PWWT? As long as I don't touch archstones

You can find the primordial demon in white tendency Ritual Path.

Happened to me, non-pure in NG. Dropped the colorless soul.

So, to turn the world to pure black (without pvp or killing innocent)..... I used a stone and then walk off the ledge like it is nothing....several times per world. Yes, tried explaining that to younger sibling.

                      God, I love this game!

You can only kill a primeval demon once in every world per new game cycle. Just found this out on a random forum post after looking for one I've previously killed and failing to find it. I couldn't find this fact on any of the wiki's so I thought I'd post it here

I bet these Primeval Demons have something to do with the secret door. The door has 6 segments and there are 5 + 1 worlds. Each world must have a primeval demon (total of 6). Because one of the arcstones are broken we can't reach the 6th primeval demon. Maybe this Primeval Demon has the key?
