Cloudstone is an Upgrade item found in Demon's Souls and Demon's Souls Remake. Upgrade Materials are items that are used to strengthen the statistical value and to increase the effect of a certain piece of equipment.
Green ore said to be found in the sky. Enhances shields in particular.
An ore that blocks light and increases a shield's capacity to block magic. Shields can be strengthened by Cloudstones up to a maximum of level 5.

Dark Upgrades
An exclusive upgrade path for strengthening Shields. Requires the Cloudstone material for upgrading. The effect raises the Magic Damage Reduction % but it also resets the Guard Break Reduction of the shield to default.
Why should one ever use this when the dark silver shield is right there
